I thought this would be interesting to some of you. Because I use this site for my paintings, I have some reluctancy here (and that is why this is a "scrap"). But I decided to show some of this because I don't want you guys to think I am all "paint only". It's so damn far from the truth. I was able to draw in Adobe Illustrator before I could with a pen.

So... If you have ever wondered who does the little graphic nonsense (nobody ever gives a shit about) on the Venture Brothers... Well, that crap falls on me. I guess I shouldn't say "falls" on me, because I kinda pull the pile down on myself. I am all extra persnickety about these little details. And... so is Jackson. We love to get this kinda crap "right". Jackson has come to save these little graphic jobs for me to do. Why? Because I am a nut who will spend way too much time on it, and do it for free. If I don't do it, I see the results of a little gem in the making left in the hands of an overworked animator, and I flip-out, like a child... "Ahhh, come on! It should be way more cool than that!" So I do it myself. You guys will never understand how much little pieces of shit Jackson and I have to do ourselves... Thankless crap. Yet... It's worth it. Isn't it? We think so.

This is Brock's OSI "license to kill" that I made for "Midlife Chrysalis". That was the first episode Jackson and I wrote together, so I have warm feelings for that episode. I didn't draw the picture of Brock. If you want that, ask Jackson... The guy draws the "definitive" Brock. I am a portrait painter (x-graphic artist)... If I ever do a portrait of Patrick Warburton, I may have a crack at drawing Brock. But I don't think I have a chance (or the desire) to get Patrick into a bra.

All done in adobe Illustrator 10... No clip art is EVER used.

Did you pick his ID #by finding a number you could UPC without relating him to a loaf of bread, ladies' razors, or some other UPC'd item?

SPOON!!!

Sorry I grew up on a healthy dose of Tick cartoons and Fruit Loops... So naturally I'm a Tick fanatic as well as a VB nut.

I saw this somewhere online where you could print it out and cut it out :D I'm waiting to get glossy paper and a laminator... (lol i'm not serious, but good work :D It's the small details that count with me)

Brock has a really nice signature! I guess he's as precise with his penmanship as he is with his kills.

Love the show. Great work seriously. The thing about details is that you'd notice if they weren't there. You're paintings are amazing as well. Keep up the good work.

Now this is embarrassing. I went on the net looking for some Venture Brothers reference art before I got out the DVD. I found a really blurry and pixelated version of just the front of this ID during my search.
I thought to myself... Hey, this is pretty cool. I should clean it up. After I completed it, I posted it here on DA. [link]
A friend of mine linked me to this piece, and i was speechless. I don't know what to say other than, I love the Venture Brothers, and yes, all the little shit does make a difference. This second season is brilliance!

I don't know what to do with my version, seeing as how it's practically tracing, and i feel guilty getting fave's for it. I'll leave it up to you whether I should get rid of it or whatnot. Nonetheless, it was good practice for me. Continue the good work, Doc.

So from me to you, a big Thank You Doc for meticulously spending your time on the little graphic nonsense, thus creating an even better show.

I remember that episode; and I completely loved his card! 'licence to kill' ..it was hilarious, Doc! I think it's really neat that you are one of the people who work on the venture brothers. How did you get envolved in it?

It's a Brock licence to kill... that pretty much sums up the necessity for me to fav it, nothing more
(that, and the art skill is masterful!) Great Job - VB rocks!

Nobody watches Inuyasha!

Also, i just wanted to say thank-you for the gratuitious and splendid homage to Rocky Horror in "Return to Spider Skull Island." Hank dressed as Columbia is..... more beautiful than death.

Huh, I was little confused to see this in my Deviant Watch thinger and then I remembered you had something to do with the cartoon I've never seen becaues I have no T.V. ... That's an interesting transition, starting with the digital stuff. I myself started and only really do traditional media (though isn't it all digital once we scan/photograph/upload it?) and I'm having a Hell of a time learning to do otherwise. But I keep thinking "this would save a fortune on art suplpies" and make pathetic attempts.

Damn, now I want to see your cartoon! Again, no television, but when I did I was a big fan of adult swim.

Wow, I'm really surprised to learn that you went from digital to traditional (if that is what you meant), that's interesting. And yes, it does pay off that you do so much work. You should be proud that you get involved with all the little details that are important to you, and still manage to come out with an excellent show. Most people would only manage to get the details down, and who wants to see a shitty show with excellent arbitrary details? Ok, so probably the people who watch most of the other shows on Adult Swim would, but THAT's not your audience!

Most of the people who watch Adult Swim are watching it for Inuyasha.

I don't think details are their primary concern. (point of fact their primary concern is CUTE DEMON DOG BOYS and bad anime)
